SuzyQ – The Food Delivery Cart That Changed Senior Care – And Why You Need One

Posted by Melissa Cook | 1 comment

For over seventy-five years, Lakeside Foodservice has built a reputation for manufacturing special mobile foodservice equipment – including the SuzyQ Meal Delivery Cart.

Lakeside partnered with Suzanne Quiring, a registered dietitian. In the 1990s, she recognized that serving pre-plated meals in residential care facilities had adverse economic and senior health repercussions. So, Suzanne began designing a foodservice delivery cart that offered flexibility and options for residents in-room and dining rooms at mealtime. It was initially used for beverages, but it quickly found a use for desserts and full meal delivery. Since its inception, SuzyQ carts have reduced food waste and cut costs for foodservice directors. In addition, allowing seniors to decide on their own meals has given them the humane right of control over personal choice.

Impressive! At first glance, I almost hated this cart. The last two sentences were eye-opening; "Since its inception, SuzyQ carts have reduced food waste and cut costs for foodservice directors. In addition, allowing seniors to decide on their own meals has given them the humane right of control over personal choice." Then I saw the second photo of the cart (Western-style-Distressed Wood) and my brain said two things; "right-of-control" = "dignity" for some and the SuzyQ will help newer cooks (or servers) improve their customer service and plating/presentation skills! The SuzyQ is an "Action Station!"

Thank you for the great article!
