Finding a Balance in Cleveland

After much success in the Toledo market, Balance Pan-Asian Grille has opened their first Cleveland location in the heart of downtown. This Asian fusion restaurant “serving real food, fast” is the vision of two business partners, Prakash Karamchandani and HoChan Jang.

At Balance, food is the focus, using fresh whole ingredients in an open kitchen. This type of transparency within the space was achieved by a glass curtain wall along the entire front counter to showcase preparation and cooking.

TriMark SS Kemp designers worked side-by-side with the owners to perfect an already thriving concept. Since the kitchen is on full display, cleanability was an important aspect of the design. All equipment was put on casters, so they could easily move the units in and out for sanitizing. The custom stainless-steel counters were created to be the same height and depth so once they were locked in place, it provided a uniform, built-in look. Using the counters on the front line integrated the equipment within a reduced footprint, keeping the kitchen well organized and efficient.

When asked how it was to partner with TriMark SS Kemp, Karamchandani stated “Working with SS Kemp from design to install was a top notch, professional experience. Their designers were responsive and detailed in ensuring our vision was on paper, patiently updating designs and elevations to ensure perfect installation and clear understanding with architectural, engineering, and contractors. Their procurement department worked behind the scenes to stage our kitchen for efficient installation. And the final installation was flawless, my only regret was not having their team handle a wider scope and relying on our general contractor less!”
