Tao Chicago is the latest venue from the Tao Group, joining established locations in New York, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. The restaurant is split level across 34,000 square-feet and is found at 632 N. Dearborn St, within River North in Chicago.

TriMark had the privilege to partner with the business to outfit the kitchen with equipment, supplies, and custom fabrications, giving the chefs a workspace unrivaled in size and functionality.

Kitchen installation at TAO Chicago nears completion

Tao Chicago is built in the former Chicago Historical Society building, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. As such, TriMark was challenged with a renovation that needed to be completed without damaging the existing structure. An undertaking that Brad Weaver and Kevin Land of TriMark were more than qualified to achieve.

This project called for a 50-foot stainless steel chef’s counter. Installation required a unique solution, segmenting the counter into six pieces and bringing them in individually for reassembly.

“We work in different locations, but for exciting projects, such as these, we’re aligned towards the same goal,” said Brad Weaver, TriMark Hockenbergs Project Manager who oversaw the development. “Kevin and his team knocked it out of the park with the stainless steel custom fabrication and install. Despite the complexity of the job due to the building’s history, the team delivered a phenomenal kitchen.”

Tao Chicago incorporates the existing interior architecture giving the dining room an ambiance of past decades by showcasing its ancient artifacts. The restaurant is scheduled for a grand opening on September 17th.
