The Griffin Report Names Bean a Foodservice Leader in New England
Jeff Bean, Vice President of Territory Sales for TriMark United East, has been named one of the “40 under 40” foodservice leaders by The Griffin Report, a leading foodservice trade publication in New England.
With 16 years of experience, Bean has longtime roots in the foodservice industry. His grandfather, Harry Halpern started the company, which was then known as United Restaurant Equipment. His father, Norman Bean, held a senior executive-level position and his uncle, Bob Halpern, was once the company’s president. Back then, it was a growing, family-owned business. Today, TriMark United East is projected to earn an approximate $125 million.
Bean began as a summer intern and went on to become a street salesperson for ten years. He enjoyed the fast-paced, independent environment of street sales, but mostly, he liked connecting with his customers. “I was able to build my own territory, build relationships and focus on keeping the customers happy and successful,” he said. He later was promoted to the position of regional sales manager.
His background in sales informs the decisions he makes in his current role. “My job is to support the salespeople, so that they can take care of their customers and help them be more successful. Our sales force is the face of the company. I want to give them all the tools necessary to succeed,” he said. “We have a great team here. The people I manage have a passion for what they do. I’m proud of the team we’ve built and our growth we’ve had,” he said.
Going forward, he plans to add more sales representatives and managers to his team. In fact, the TriMark United East sales department saw an increase of approximately 11% in street sales this year.
“Sales is one of the most demanding jobs in the company, in my opinion,” said Bean. “You have to have a good attitude, be good with people, be able to build your own business and keep your customers happy.”
Joe Christie, Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing for TriMark United East said, “Jeff has had a stellar career here at TriMark. He is a dad, an executive, a team player, and a member of the community who juggles work and life just like everyone else around him. He humbly sets an example for all of us to aspire. In my book, he’s a 1 under 40.”
Joe Thibert, President of TriMark United East agrees. “Jeff Bean has been a key figure in TriMark United East’s growth over the last 16 years. He brings experience, professionalism, enthusiasm, and strategic thinking to our management team. With his leadership, we expect to continue to evolve and grow in positive ways,” said Joe Thibert, President of TriMark United East.
“It’s an honor to be named one of The Griffin Report’s ’40 Under 40.” Bean added that the secret to his success is “a good work ethic, persistence and listening to the customer.”
