Position: Transportation Analyst

We are looking for a data-driven self-starter to join our team as a Transportation Analyst. Reporting to the Vice President of Corporate Transportation, this position will have an opportunity to positively influence our supply chain and contribute to the financial success of our company. The role will help drive transportation cost reductions and service improvements by analyzing shipment level data and identifying opportunities to increase operational efficiency and delivery performance. The candidate will use strong analytical skills and operational experience to build a framework for collecting transactional data from different systems, synthesizing the data to detect improvement opportunities and calculating the potential value of those opportunities.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Collect and integrate shipment level data from various internal and external systems
  • Analyze freight flows to identify opportunities to reduce inbound/outbound/drop shipment freight expense and improve delivery service levels
  • Build a scalable application for analyzing freight prepaid vs. freight collect to drive freight terms conversion with suppliers across TriMark
  • Assist in the development of TriMark Routing Guides to define shipment routing requirements and mode weight breaks for freight collect shipments
  • Develop metrics and reporting to measure freight cost, delivery performance, compliance and efficiency improvements at the divisional, regional and national level

Competencies, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong analytical skills and an understanding of corporate financial data
  • Ability to access, analyze and interpret data for use in decision-making
  • Skilled in data retrieval, data mining and data management
  • Sound capability of developing data-driven solution recommendations
  • Knowledge in Transportation/Supply Chain Operations, data, methods & procedures
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Familiarity with SQL and Business intelligence reporting applications (Tableau, Power BI) a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable in a decentralized environment; able to initiate communication to get required data from internal and external sources
  • Well organized, detail oriented, process driven and able to prioritize tasks
  • Presentations skills / experience a plus

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain or a related field
  • 2-4 years of experience in a Supply Chain related field
  • Industry experience not required but a plus
  • JDE experience a plus
