“It’s either in your DNA or it’s not,” TriMark United East President Joe Thibert
told the audience at Design Museum Boston’s UNITE Panel Discussion. Thibert appeared at the event as part of a three-person panel brought together to share their expertise on the topic of “Hospitality as Human-Centered Design.”
He also discussed the crucial role designers play in uniting the restaurant’s food and atmosphere into one cohesive unit. “You’re really trying to make that connection between what is on the plate and what is in the room,” he said.
Joining Thibert on the panel was Kelly Daigle, founder of Clothbound, and Ryan Shefferman, President of Gate 3 Design. The panel was moderated by Ashley Shaffer, Senior Design Researcher, Brand Strategist and Project Lead at IDEO.
About Design Museum Boston’s Design for Dining summer exhibit
The summer exhibit, sponsored by TriMark United East, was part of Design Museum Boston’s ongoing effort to bring industry professionals together and showcase exhibit work. For this event, seven different Boston-area restaurants featured exhibits, and TriMark United East Tabletop Specialist, Tyrone Scoby
, worked with each restaurant’s design firm, executive chef or owner to replace their everyday tabletop with a new look featuring the exhibit display.
The result was an exciting project that was unique and inspiring to everyone who experienced it.
