Position: Technical Designer

The role of the Technical Designer represents a broad cross section of skills, talents and motivation necessary for the excellent creation of design and technical documents required for Trimark’s worldwide projects.  The Technical Designer is responsible for commercial kitchen design, draft layouts, production drawings, and presentation drawings. This position is responsible for developing drawings for schematic design, design development, construction documents and prototypical packages.  The Technical Designer is also responsible for coordinating with internal team members, and external consultants.  The ideal candidate must present strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.  Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills with strategic thinking abilities.  Must have reliable transportation and be willing to take a skills placement test in Revit and Auto Cad.  We are looking forward to the next talented and creative member of our team.
 
Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Sketch layouts and perform capacity/sales/conceptual space studies to develop design and determine specific kitchen equipment
  • Prepare design and or technical documents needed to facilitate project communication for internal teams, external consultants and or clients.
  • Meet/coordinate with lead designer/supervisor to determine needs of each space.
  • Attend design reviews and project meetings with team members.
  • Exhibit basic knowledge of general construction, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems and processes.
  • Collaborate on multiple commercial kitchen projects at one time, including all phases of design and construction. 
  • Assist in programming, codes and other project-relevant research required for each project by any regulatory agency.
  • Read, interpret and correct architectural drawings to improve commercial kitchen design & construction drawings in two or three dimensions.
  • Understand and translate a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form to produce equipment schedules.
  • Successfully, effective and simultaneously manage multiple project at once.
  • Comfortable working independently as a leader within the team.
  • Create graphical presentation drawings and documentations for team training and standards.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
  • Willing and able to share and teach knowledge with peers.
  • Excellent internal and external customer service.

Education & Experience
  • AA certificate, Bachelor’s degree in Interior design, Architecture, Industrial Design, or related field
  • 3 years of relevant experience in a professional design/construction environment.
  • Food service design experience preferred
  • Intermediate computer skills including AutoCad, Revit, BIM 360, Navis Works, Adobe Suite, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
