Position: Director of Purchasing

*Director of Purchasing - Commercial Construction Summary:
*The Director is a mid-senior professional who works with Senior Leadership and cross-functional departments to ensure Purchasing department and cross-departmental objectives are met. The Director of Purchasing will oversee and manage the daily activities of all Contract Administrators and manage the execution of processes surrounding the purchasing, order entry, billing and complete execution of contracts.

Director of Purchasing - Commercial Construction Qualifications:

  • Strong leadership ability with proven experience managing a diverse team towards positive goals
  • Power-user level Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of Government Contract billing
  • Must have AIA billing experience
  • Knowledge of Construction Lifecycle
  • Knowledge of operations background
  • Knowledge of Government Contracts Contacts
  • Knowledge of Owner Controlled Insurance Program
  • Knowledge of Certified Payroll WH-347
  • Strong analytical skills / basic accounting skill / solid math skills
  • Must be Business savvy
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, inventory management, or related field Master’s degree preferred
  • 5 years purchasing management experience
  • 5 years supervisory experience
  • 5 years’ experience managing the purchasing function and supervising a team of buyers within the foodservice industry

Director of Purchasing - Commercial Construction Responsibilities:

  • Manage Contract Administrator Supervisors and teams to ensure buying is timely, and maximum profitability is attained in the buying process.
  • Manage payables to ensure that invoices are paid promptly, accurately, and within cash discount timelines.
  • Manage return and vendor credit process to ensure that customer credits and vendor returns are processed in a timely manner, and that vendor credits for bill backs and returns are received in a timely manner. Ensure timely repair of damaged goods.
  • Monitor inbound and direct freight rates to ensure maximum cost/value is attained.
  • Ensure that vendor training meetings and Manufacturer’s representatives meetings are consistent for appropriate personnel.
  • Responsible for ensuring that Purchase order cancellations/revisions are handled in an efficient manner, and cost changes are handled correctly.
  • Ensure that system software is working properly and help to resolve software issues with software programmers.
  • Ensure queries and reports are written and/or provided as needed to management, manufacturer’s representatives, and sales managers.
  • Create standard operation procedures across the department.
  • Assist in process mapping & creation of SOP's for future training.
  • Determine and manage productivity and headcount.
  • Be the liaison between Purchasing, Finance and Sales to ensure projects are purchased timely, change orders are executed and jobs closed timely in order to recognize revenue.
  • Manage the Pick, Pack and Deliver process to maximize the general contractors billing cycle and recognize job revenue as early as possible in the process.
  • Be a key contributor to the implementation of order processing system
  • Other duties as assigned
