Position: Sales Tax Accountant

TriMark Strategic is a foodservice equipment supplier, installation and design expert for national chain restaurants and local foodservice operations. We are headquartered in Lewisville, Texas with operating facilities nationwide. We are currently seeking an Sales Tax Accountant for our Corporate office in Lewisville, Texas.


The Sales Tax Accountant is responsible for determining proper taxability of customers and transactions. This position will also be responsible for conducting reverse audits to seek refund opportunities, month end journal entries, and preparing and file a Company’s sales taxes on a monthly basis.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Gather tax collection reports, prepare tax data imports, and prepare sales and use tax returns
  • File sales tax returns with timely payments
  • Administer audits to ensure that sales tax related accounting principles are followed
  • Maintain monthly sales tax return files and keep log of all tax due notices with resolutions
  • Follow up with taxing jurisdictions on all issues and discrepancies
  • Apply for all required tax permit renewals and new permits as needed
  • Verify correct tax rate credits in system and obtain tax refunds
  • Assist with assembling information and documentation for tax audits
  • Manage internal self-audits for taxability issues and sales tax state audits
  • Execute reconciliation of bank accounts and other balance sheet accounts
  • Manage and calculate sales commissions monthly and annually
  • Review all sales records
  • Perform other related projects and duties as assigned

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Taxation
  • 3-5 years’ experience filing sales tax returns in multiple state and local jurisdictions
  • Background in tax account reconciliation experience
  • Avalara Tax software a plus
  • Proficient computer skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access) needed including the ability to create and manipulate data in spreadsheets, creating pivot tables, and performing complex calculations
