Position: Estimator

Position Summary/Objective
The Estimator will be responsible for preparing detailed equipment estimates and bid proposals and working with Project Managers throughout the completion of the awarded projects.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Request and review food service equipment bid packages.
  • Consult with customers, vendors, personnel in other departments or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
  • Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
  • Solicit and review pricing from vendors and subcontractors
  • Compile estimates and detailed bid proposals
  • Attend scope reviews
  • Upon receipt of a contract, review scope of work and schedule.  Coordinate with Project Manager and Contract Administrator
  • Vendor negotiations
    •  Ensure competitive quotes in order to save customer money and increase profitability for company
    • Work diligently to delay price increases
    • Seek additional discounts in competitive situations
  • Order associated equipment for awarded bid jobs
  • Work with Purchasing and Project Managers to eliminate any lead time issues that may arise on equipment that has been ordered
  • Quote and process change orders and returns with appropriate deposits and sign-offs
  • Keep quote up-to-date throughout job
  • Reconcile bid job upon completion
  • Build strong positive relationships with customers, vendors, and company personnel
    • Prompt follow up calls/emails
    • Professional communication, both oral and written
    • Convey care in interactions
    •  Will interact with subcontractors, general contractors, customers
    • Will interact with architects/consultants, 3rd party designers, service agencies, and manufacturers
    • Will interact with personnel from various departments within Company
  • Travel to job sites as needed
  • Research questions as they arise
  • Assess cost effectiveness of products, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops and make recommendations to save customer money
  • Develop personal product knowledge
  • Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors
  • Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience
Essential Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in any field
  • Must complete CFSP Test within first 3 years of employment
Preferred Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Architectural, Engineering or Construction related field
Essential Experience
  • 1-3 years working in a professional office environment
  • 1-3 years estimating experience
